Flow Builder: Add a request contact
What is Request contact?
Request contact asks the customer to share their phone number and WhatsApp name. The node shows your message and a button. WhatsApp writes the button label and translates it to the customer's WhatsApp language. You cannot edit that label.
How to edit Request contact
Drag Request contact from the build panel. In the edit panel, the title is Request contact info. You can set:
- Content ID.
- Message text. This is the text above the button. Say clearly what you are asking for and why. You can use formatting, lists, emoji, and variables. The message can be up to 1,024 characters.
On the canvas, connect the button to the step that should run after the customer shares their contact.
Best practices
- Ask only when you need the phone number or the WhatsApp name.
- Tell the customer what you will do with the contact before they tap the button.
- Connect the button. If you leave it unconnected, nothing follows the share.
